11/17/2012 – At 1118 hours Box 75 was transmitted for a structure fire at 101 N. 16th Street. As units began responding, Schuylkill County Communications was reporting two people may be trapped on the third floor. The police department and P-2 arrived and confirmed a working fire in the rear of the first floor with people in a third floor window. The heat and smoke conditions in the third floor rapidly detereorated forcing the two occupants to jump to safety as first in E-32 approached the scene. As police, fire, and EMS personnel attended to the victims, a line was stretched from E-32 through the front door to attack the seat of the fire. A second line was used to the rear of the building to contain the fire running the exterior of the home. E-62 and E-41 supplied water to the scene via hydrants on Market Street and 16th Street. L-21 and L-51 worked on laddering the building and venting the roof. A primary search was conducted to check for any other occupants as crews worked to contain the fire. The two victims were flown to a trauma center for treatment of their injuries. Crews remained on scene for approximately 2.5 hours. P-4 had command. The fire is currently under investigation.
