Natural Gas Leak

7/20/12 – At 11:29hrs Stations 50 & 60 along with Mount Carbon, were dispatched to 45 Red Horse Road for a Natural Gas Leak. When apparatus arrived on scene personnel secured the area while crews from Station 60 used gas monitors to check the area and residences to ensure everything was clear.  Crews remained on scene for approximately 30 minutes until the gas company arrived to fix the leak.  Photos from Yorkville Hose Facebook

07/12/12 – At 15:49hrs stations 10, 60 & 70 were dispatched to the intersection of Route 61 & Mauch Chuck Street for a MVA with injuries. When apparatus arrived on scene, personnel from Stations 10 & 70 applied floor dry and disconnected the batteries while personnel from Station 60 assisted EMS with patient packaging.  Meanwhile Station 20 was dispatched to shut down Route 61 South Bound at Union Station. Mutual Aid – RIT Assignment

7/7/12 – At 22:55hrs 68 RIT North (Stations 30 & 40) were dispatched to assist the Shenandoah Fire Department and multiple other companies at 200 West Columbus Street for a working structure fire. When Stations 30 & 40 arrived on scene, crews setup a RIT team on side A of the structure while other firefighters on scene performed overhaul. Crews remained on scene for approximately 1hr. Dumpster Fire

07/06/12 – At 00:52hrs Stations 50 & 60 were dispatched to the area of 1500 Mount Hope Avenue, behind the old Mount Hope School, for a reported dumpster fire. Prior to apparatus on scene, neighbors used a fire extinguisher to knock the bulk of the fire down. L-51 then placed a 1 ¾” bumper line in service to fully knock down the fire. Working Structure Fire

7/3/12 – At 13:00hrs the PFD was dispatched to 1923 3rd Avenue for a reported house fire. P-1 arrived first on scene and advised of heavy smoke showing and upgraded it to a working structure fire. First apparatus on scene, E-62 immediately placed a 1 ¾” line in service and started their fire attack. Next in L-51 also placed a 1 ¾” line in service while another crew began venting the structure. Next in E-32 laid a 5” supply line to feed both L-51 and E-62. Crews made an aggressive interior attack and knocked the fire down very quickly.   Crews were in service for approximately 1 ½ hrs while overhaul was performed and companies wrapped up. 6/12/12 – At 15:22hrs Station 60 was dispatched to 888 Gordon Nagle Trail for a MVA with fluids down. When R-63 arrived on scene, personnel found a single vehicle MVA in which a SUV hit a large rock at the mall entrance. Crews applied floor dry and remained on scene for approximately 40min until the towing company arrived. Photos from Yorkville Hose Facebook

Mutual Aid – Water Rescue

06/01/2012 – At 15:25hrs, Rescue 63 was dispatched to 747 Port Carbon – St. Clair Highway in E. Norwegian Township to assist Fire District 8 with a report of someone in the creek. To easily access the patient, crews entered the creek from behind a business in the St. Clair Industrial Park. Personnel used a cut off saw to remove a chain link fence and a chain saw to clear a path to the creek bank. The patient was loaded into a stokes basket and taken to an awaiting ambulance. Crews were on scene for approximately 45 minutes.

Mutual Aid – 4 Alarm Commercial Structure Fire with MAYDAY

05/31/2012 – At 18:05hrs, The RIT team (E-11 and E-71) along with L-51 were dispatched to 20 W. Main St. in Schuylkill Haven for a working fire in a gun shop. Multiple buildings were well involved upon arrival. L-51 set up on the B side and sent crews to the roof and to the interior on side A. The city RIT team was reassigned to fire attack once Englewood RIT arrived. After the bulk of the fire was knocked down, a MAYDAY was called from the second floor of a rear storage area. A firefighters foot became stuck after a section of the floor gave way. The RIT teams were activated and quickly removed the firefighter using a stokes basket. The firefighter was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and released a short time later. Crews were on scene for approximately 3 hours. Pictures by Christina Carls and Coal Region Fire.
