Mutual Aid – Working Structure Fire

6/20/2011 –  At 02:14hrs the P.F.D. R.I.T. West (Stations 50 & 60) were dispatched to assist Minersville Fire Department at 233 South Delaware Ave for a working fire.  As stations 50 & 60 were en-route, Minersville command then requested his second alarm plus an additional R.I.T. team from the city which then brought Stations 10 & 70. When stations 50 & 60 arrived on scene they were immediately placed  in service to assist with fire attack. Pottsville units remained on scene for approximately 3 ½ hours. New Pumper Placed in Service

Congratulations to the American Hose Company (Station 70) on delivery of their new 2011 KME Panther custom pumper. The new engine will be their primary vehicle for vehicle accidents, R.I.T. team assignments and the first engine for out of town calls.

Mutual Aid – Working Structure Fire

6/6/2011 – At 08:35hrs the P.F.D. R.I.T. south team (Stations 10 & 70) were dispatched to assist the Cressona Fire Department at 49 River Street for a Working Structure Fire. First arriving units were met with heavy fire conditions which prompted command to upgrade to a second alarm assignment which then added Stations 50 & 60 from the city along with other mutual aid. When city units arrived on scene they set up R.I.T. on Side A of the structure while other crews assisted with ventilation and overhaul. Working Structure Fire

06/01/2011 – At 00:39hrs the P.F.D. was dispatched to 663 North 2nd street for a reported house fire. Police arrived on scene and advised county that the actual address was 661 North 2nd and that they had heavy smoke showing from Division 2 , Side A of the structure with fire showing on Division 1, Side C of the structure. When P-3 arrived on scene he established command and requested the S.H.F.D. R.I.T team be dispatched. First arriving E-32 immediately placed an 1-3/4” hand line in service and began an interior attack on Division 1, Side A of the building. Next in E-11 also pulled a 1-3/4” line to assist with fire knockdown while E-41 pulled a 3rd 1-3/4” line on Side C of the structure as a back-up line. Meanwhile crews were busy establishing multiple water supplies and crews from L-21 & L-51 laddered the building. Companies remained on scene until approximately 03:15hrs. House Fire

4/30/2011 – At 20:41hrs the P.F.D. was dispatched to 1500 Mount Hope Avenue for a House Fire. First on scene was Lieutenant 37 (Dale Blum) who used a personal extinguisher to knock down the fire prior to any apparatus arrival. Next on scene, E-32 stretched a 1 ½” bumper line to wet down the area and to have in place for overhaul. Once it was determined all the hot spots were knocked down the box was then held to E-32, L-51 and E-62. Photos from Yorkville Hose Facebook.

4/29/2011 – At 08:28hrs stations 50 & 60 were dispatched to the 1200 Block of W. Market Street for a 3 vehicle MVA. As units arrived on scene, L-51 applied floor dry to leaking fluids and R-63 provided traffic control. Photo from Yorkville Hose Facebook.

MVA

4/13/11 – At 20:26hrs stations 30 & 40 were dispatched to 150 N. Claude A Lord Blvd, (Route 61) for a single vehicle MVA with a car hung up on a guard rail. When E-32 arrived on scene they placed a 1-3/4″ safety line in service in case the gas tank would rupture while the car was being removed from the guardrail. Mutual Aid – Working Structure Fire

4/5/11 – At 02:52 hours RIT North (E-32/E-41) and E-72 along with P3 and P2 were dispatched to assist Mahanoy City on a working structure fire at 915 E Pine Street.  E-72 took a hydrant at 8th and Mahanoy to feed Ladder 43-20.  E-32 and E-41 were staged out on Centre street while their personnel were sent to the front of the structure for RIT operations.  All Pottsville units were cleared around 06:00.  (First run for E-72 new KME engine) Photos from Coal Region Fire

MVA with Entrapment

At 18:35 hours E-32, E-41, R-63, and P-3 were dispatched to Progress and Laurel Boulevard for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.  Single vehicle rolled onto passenger side with driver entrapped.  R-63 used long shores and cribbing to stabilize vehicle and used Hurst tools to cut door posts and roll roof to gain access to the patient. Grill Fire

At 18:19 hours E-32, E-41, and P-3 were dispatched to 427 Peacock Street for a BBQ Grill Fire.  Heat from the grille had charred the wood that the grill was resting on, small amount of water was applied to the charred area.
